Things That Dusty Taught Me

– by Jacki

We lost our precious little fur-baby, Dusty, on 10/22/01. He was 16.5 years old! He was such a blessing to us and we learned a lot from that little guy! Here's a little of what he taught us…

Complete and Absolute Trust and Confidence

Dusty trusted us so completely that he would just be a limp rag-doll when we picked him up—so totally relaxed and trusting. He did not squirm, wiggle, or fight us and was not afraid one bit! He knew without a doubt that we would protect him and not let him fall or get hurt. If he had been sleeping when we'd pick him up, he'd just hang his little head down almost in a "U" shape to his back end! People visiting us just couldn't get over this—they'd never seen such complete trust. Also, Dusty knew US so well and knew that we loved him and that anything we had to do to him was an act of love and for his benefit that even when we'd have to doctor him and it hurt, he'd simply give us kisses that said, "This really hurts, Mom and Dad, but I know you must do it for my good…" I believe this is exactly how God wants us to trust Him—to stay calm and relaxed no matter what position we find ourselves in—knowing that we are in His loving care and that He will protect us and that whatever He is doing with us is done out of love and is for our good—even if it hurts for a while.

The Windsock

– by Jacki

The other day, I was looking outside at this beautiful windsock that Gorden got at a yard sale a while back. He started to get rid of it when he was getting out the Christmas decorations, but instead he hung it outside on our porch just to get it out of his way for a while. We soon noticed just how beautiful it really is! It's made of these long, flowing, brightly-colored, shiny ribbon streamers, and they just fill our house with rainbows on the walls and ceiling when the sun hits them just right!! They just twinkle—almost like electric lights flashing all these different colors as the wind blows them…

Our value to God doesn't depend on what we can do for Him…

"Why did God allow this to happen?" my new friend lamented. "Doesn't He care about me?" Andrea pounded her knee. "I'm so angry at Him."

I slid across the park bench and put my arm around her shoulder. She leaned into me, sobs shaking her body. I remembered the pain I went through not long ago—the similar cries, the feelings of abandonment and hopelessness. I wanted to take away her pain, to make it better. But she needed to learn to cling to His strength, not her own. God would show her how much He loved her. He would give her hope. Now, we wept together.

A New Spin on Humpty Dumpty

– by Kelly Irwin

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Asked God to put Humpty together again.

So God gathered Humpty up into His arms,
And held him, protected from all outer harm.
He bound Humpty's wounds and anointed him with oil,
And promised Humpty His help with all other toil.

The Way to Peace With God

Eternity… Non-Smoking

NOTE: Scriptures marked KJV are from the King James Version of the Bible; those marked NLT are from the New Living Translation.

God loves you—and wants you to have eternal life. (John 3:16-18)

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (KJV)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it. There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God." (NLT)

The Path That Leads to Destruction

Eternity… Smoking

If you have not made a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will spend all of eternity in hell—the "smoking" section!

them as long as they're basically a "good" person. The Bible says otherwise. To be considered "good" ("righteous") in God's eyes, you would have to never sin—not even once in your entire lifetime! And since this is not possible, God provided a way of salvation… But then that's another story for a different page—the "non-smoking" eternity page—"The Way to Peace With God"!!). Here's what the Bible says about hell and judgment:

Psalms 9:17

"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." (KJV)

"The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God." (NLT)
